MEOC provides monthly support group meetings through its five caregiver support groups (two groups are Alzheimer’s specific), its monthly on-line support group, a resource lending library for family caregivers which offers an impressive variety of videos and publications on Alzheimer’s Disease and care giving, an annual training seminar for area professionals and caregivers, an informative quarterly newsletter sent to 12,500 households, and public advocacy on issues impacting persons with dementia. MEOC offers a program in cooperation with a variety of partners that teaches high school students to teach Alzheimer’s caregivers to use the Internet to assist them in their care giving responsibilities.  Students teach caregivers to use e-mail thereby reducing the feeling of isolation expressed by many caregivers. They also teach caregivers how to access reliable health information and how to participate in an on-line support group.

Let us take care of the children, for they have a long way to go.  Let us take care of the elders, for they have come a long way.  Let us take care of those in between, for they are doing the work.  ~ African Proverb
