This program is designed to give the family caregiver a break from providing around-the-clock care.  The family member benefits from a program of structured, stimulating activities which are planned and based on the patient’s abilities.  Services include breakfast, lunch, recreation, music, arts and crafts, exercise, and transportation to and from the program.  This program coordinates Alzheimer’s Support Groups and a Caregivers’ Support Group.

  • Nickelsville --Nickelsville First Baptist Church Family Life Center:  Wednesday, 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM
     

  • Pound—Pound Town Hall: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM  
     

  • Big Stone Gap—New Hope Assembly of God Church: Tuesday, 9:30 AM to 2:30

  • Pennington Gap—First United Methodist Church: Thursday, 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM

  • Hiltons—United Methodist Church: Monday and Thursday, 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM

  • Appalachia—Benton Witt Center: Saturday, 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM

  • Tacoma—Tacoma School Community Center: Wednesday and Friday, 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM

  • Gate City--Community Fellowship Baptist Church:  Tuesday and Friday, 9:30 AM to 2:30PM


 Fees: Sliding scale fee according to income.

 

 Eligibility:  Adults receiving 24-hour care by family caregiver.

 

 Intake Procedure:  Walk-ins and telephone referrals accepted.
