    Volunteers Needed!

    The Mountain Laurel Cancer Support and Resource Center is in need of volunteers to deliver liquid nutritional supplements to individuals receiving cancer treatment.  There are also volunteer opportunities for persons interested in teaching community workshops which cover prevention, early detection, treatment and resources.  If you enjoy helping others and are interested in volunteering, please contact Jennifer Kennedy at 276-523-4202 or email her at jennifer.kennedy@meoc.org.

    Location:  Case Manager, Children's Advocacy, Big Stone Gap, VA

    The Southwest Virginia Children’s Advocacy Center Case Manager is a full-time, salaried position within Mountain Empire Older Citizens Children’s Services Department. The Case Manager will provide supportive and trauma-focused treatment services to victims/survivors of child abuse. Must possess a master’s degree in social work, psychology or related field, be licensure eligible and have experience working with children of all ages and abilities. Must have the ability to professionally communicate with children, parents, families and community agencies. Requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills; experience working with families; knowledge of basic crisis intervention; knowledge of the dynamics of abuse and an understanding of diversity. Must possess basic computer skills and an ability to travel within service areas. Must be flexible, non-judgmental and successfully complete state and federal background checks. No "barrier crime" convictions (See § 32.1-126.01 and §32.1-162.9:1 and §63.2‐1719 of the Code of Virginia for a complete list).     Mountain Empire Older Citizens Program for All Inclusive Care of the Elderly (PACE) is accepting applications for Personal Care Aides (PCA) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to provide personal care services in the MEOC PACE Adult Day Health Center (ADHC) in Big Stone Gap, VA.

    We are seeking PCAs and CNAs who are willing to work in an Adult Day Health Care setting and have at least one year experience in caring for the frail elderly.

    These are hourly positions with the starting wage at $8.25 per hour.

    20-40 hours per week - Start $7.50/hour.  $7.75/hour at six-months.  $8.25/hour at 12 months with satisfactory performance.  Must obtain CDL by 12th month for that raise.
