    Mountain Empire Older Citizens Program for All Inclusive Care of the Elderly (PACE) is accepting applications for Personal Care Aides (PCA) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to provide personal care services in the MEOC PACE Adult Day Health Center (ADHC) in Big Stone Gap, VA.

    We are seeking PCAs and CNAs who are willing to work in an Adult Day Health Care setting and have at least one year experience in caring for the frail elderly.

    These are hourly positions with the starting wage at $8.25 per hour.

    Social Worker (MSW)

    Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Inc. Mountain Empire PACE integrates long term and acute health care into system for frail older people. It helps them live at home, even after they’re eligible for nursing facility level of care. PACE offers adult day care, recreation, comprehensive health care, medications, transportation, home care, social services, meals and nutritional guidance and rehab therapies. The Social Worker does assessments, provides counseling and social support, makes referrals and serves on an interdisciplinary team to coordinate services for participants.  This is a fulltime, salaried position with generous leave and fringe benefits.     Director of Nutrition Services and Senior Community Services Employment Program

    Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Inc. Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Inc. has an immediate job opening for Director of Nutrition Services and Senior Community Services Employment Program (SCSEP). Position manages MEOC’s home delivered and congregate meals programs and its SCSEP program including establishing performance goals and objectives; supervision of home delivered meals program which provides essential nutrition for frail, older, homebound individuals; supervision of support staff, deliveries, food quality and inventory control; planning and coordinating socialization, recreation and health promotion activities for congregate nutrition sites; planning and coordinating promotional activities with community organizations; recruiting and managing members in SCSEP; managing operating budget; maintaining accurate records; and ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Desired attributes include ability to lead and motivate people, strong oral and written communication skills, computer proficiency, strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Four-year degree preferred. Very rewarding and personally fulfilling position. Salaried position with excellent benefits. Salary negotiable. Position open till filled.     Mountain Laurel Cancer Support and Resource Center
    Volunteers Needed!

    The Mountain Laurel Cancer Support and Resource Center is in need of volunteers to deliver liquid nutritional supplements to individuals receiving cancer treatment.  There are also volunteer opportunities for persons interested in teaching community workshops which cover prevention, early detection, treatment and resources.  If you enjoy helping others and are interested in volunteering, please contact Jennifer Kennedy at 276-523-4202 or email her at jennifer.kennedy@meoc.org.

    Public Transit Bus Drivers

    20-40 hours per week - Start $7.50/hour.  $7.75/hour at six-months.  $8.25/hour at 12 months with satisfactory performance.  Must obtain CDT by 12th month for that raise.
