Although
PACE is a provider of services, it is also a health plan, receiving
a monthly premium from Medicare, or private sources for each
participant. PACE assumes full financial risk for the cost of
providing health care to enrolled participants. This includes
primary and specialty medical care, pharmaceuticals, hospital care,
home health, rehab, durable medical equipment, dental care, and
long-term care.
Most people who
enroll in PACE are eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. Some
are eligible only for Medicaid. Those who have Medicare but
not Medicaid must pay a substantial monthly premium to enroll in
PACE. There are no deductibles, co-payments or health-care
bills for PACE participants.
Participants must
agree to receive all their health care through Mountain Empire PACE.
However, participants can leave PACE at any time and go back to
regular Medicare and Medicaid "fee-for-service" and PACE will help
them make the transition.
