The area agency on aging and public transit provider
MEOC serves Wise, Lee and Scott counties and the City of Norton.

Serving Southwest Virginia since 1974
Our goal is to help every individual live at home safely.

Comprehensive programs for all age groups
We serve clients of all ages, from children and families to older adults.
Do you need help for yourself or a loved one?
MEOC is dedicated to helping our community neighbors living in Southwest Virginia, young and old. If you need assistance, help may just be a phone call away.
Our Guiding Principle
MEOC offerings are guided by an old African Proverb that states: ``Let us take care of the children, for they have a long way to go. Let us take care of the elders for they have come a long way. Let us take care of those in between for they are doing the work.``

Our Services
We serve clients of all ages, from children and families to older adults in need of services to help them remain in their homes as long as possible. If you are in need of services ranging from care coordination for older adults to public transportation, we have a program that can help.
Important COVID-19 Information
Mountain Empire Older Citizens is closely monitoring the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as Centers for Disease Control and Virginia Department of Health recommendations. The agency is taking heightened preventive measures to reduce risk for our clients, the majority of whom are considered at highest risk of suffering severe illness from the virus. Updates on changes to MEOC services and programs will be posted on our Facebook page.
